My late mother in law Cik Limah was a good baker. She loved baking all sorts of traditional layer cakes namely 'Kek Lapis Berempah', Kek Lapis Asam manis' , "Kek Lapis Prune' and 'Kek lapis Epal.' She made about 4 to 6 types of layer cakes for Hari Raya. During the school holidays, when my family spent our time there, I learnt the techniques of making and baking the layer cakes. It really needs our patience in order to make delicious and mouth watering traditional layer cake as it took about 4 hours to bake only 1 tin of cake.
Now I am glad cos my family still can enjoy the taste of the prune layer cake during Hari Raya day.
